Hardluck Studios recently painted replacement signage for all 25 cabin plaques in Pioneer Park. The park is a favorite tourist destination that houses cabins from the Alaska gold rush era, 2 museums, and the riverboat Nenana. Signage for the cabins was originally produced 35 years ago, and has begun showing signs of wear. We proposed a new design to the Park Management for the plaques in fall of 2014. See photo to right for a preview of the new signage. Signs will be hung in time for the Park's opening in May, 2015.

FAIRBANKS Daily News Miner on Hardluck Studios— When Dubh Black describes the hand-painted sign propped up behind him at Hardluck Studios, he sounds like an art professor discussing the technical merits of a fine painting. The specially blended enamel paint used on the sign has the highest pigment loads you can get, and is formulated so it leaves no brush marks. Black raps on the sign with his knuckles, noting that the dried product is as hard as plastic.
